Anya Traisman

Anya Traisman was born into a traditional Native American community called Meta Tantay (Chumush for "Walk in Peace"), where she spent the first two years of her life. Ms. Traisman has actively participated in the sustainability movement for nearly ten years, beginning with her experience as a high school student at the Wilderness Charter School in Ashland, OR and college years at Fairhaven College of Interdisciplinary Studies, in Bellingham, WA. Since moving to the Chicago area in 2005, she's participated in numerous green events, starting with the 2005 Greening the Heartland Conference and has also sought training, on various levels, in sustainable agriculture. As an active member of Go Green Wilmette , she sits on the youth education for sustainability committee.  With previous experience in multi-media art and journalism and business-training at Columbia College Chicago , she carries with her an interdisciplinary approach to life. She has a passion for long-distance bicycling and backpacking trips and has traveled internationally to Costa Rica, Panama, Peru, and Ecuador.
